New office & production facility begins

A company which produces quality, bespoke interior trim for the automotive, aerospace and rail industries has a new office and warehouse facility being built on the outskirts of Kettering, Northamptonshire.

IMK Automotive currently operate from their headquarters on Orion Way, Kettering but once complete, the new 100,000 sq.ft building will see the head-office function relocate to the new premises, combined with new production, research and development, storage and 184 parking spaces.

Local construction specialist Mick George Ltd will shortly commence Earthworks on behalf of Parkway Construction (MK) Ltd for this impressive structure, which is scheduled to be completed early in 2019.

The build itself will comprise an array of bespoke features which includes; a combination of highly insulated vertical composite cladding, alongside rain screen panelling to the main elevations, which are complimented by the use of ribbon windows, curtain walling screens and a projecting glazed atrium over the reception area.

The origins of the automotive business date back to 1975 in the historic heart of the leather industry in Northamptonshire and has now become the centre of excellence for automotive leather interior trim in the UK.

The organisation is responsible for individual trimmed components supplied to the World’s most prestigious automotive brands, including Aston Martins - James Bond’s car of choice, right through to the Bentley. At present, these elements are formed at various sites in Kettering and Coventry respectively.

The scheme represents the firm’s commitment and contribution to the local area, while at the same time enhances I M Kelly’s global credentials.

Michael George, Director of Contracting commented: ‘’We have worked alongside Parkway Construction (MK) Ltd on similar projects at Kettering Business Park where this project is located, so are familiar with the surroundings, which puts us in a strong position to deliver another high-class service.’’

George continued: ‘’It is good to see a successful global brand that already has established roots in the Kettering area looking to build on their foundations in the same locality, which will only be a good thing for the nearby communities.’’
