CONSTRUCT Awards 2019: Winners Revealed

The winners of the CONSTRUCT Awards 2019 were announced at the glittering awards ceremony in conjunction with CONSTRUCT’s flagship event, CONSTRUCT Day. The event took place on Friday 4 October 2019, with an excellent turnout of over 500 industry guests in attendance.

Following the exhibition and networking in the morning, the awards commenced and were hosted by the hilarious comedian, Hal Cruttenden. Five winners were recognised for their outstanding achievements in the sector, from innovative new products and systems, to the hardworking, committed workforce that support the construction industry. The categories included; Projects over £2.5m, Projects under £2.5m, Health & Safety, Unsung Hero and Young Achiever.

Careys Civil Engineering took home the Projects over £2.5m Award for their project, Principal Tower.

The project demonstrated a number of firsts in the UK for high-rise construction, including the installation of optical fibre cables in the concrete columns and walls.

Oliver Connell & Son was awarded the Projects under £2.5m Award for the Royal College of Pathologists. This project was a great demonstration of how concrete can be made sustainable through the use of ribbed floor slabs, making the overall structure lighter.

J P Dunn Construction won the Health & Safety Award with their innovative new system, Deck Box.

Dave Heneghan from A J Morrisroe & Sons was awarded Unsung Hero, and Macauley Stock from Southern Concrete was awarded the Young Achiever Award.

CONSTRUCT would like to thank everyone who donated to our official charity, the Lighthouse Club.

Guests raised over £6,000 for the charity, which will go towards helping relieve poverty suffered as a result of an accident, disability or ill health by people employed or formerly employed within the building and civil engineering industries and allied trades in the UK including their widows and children.

CONSTRUCT Day was incredibly well supported and without the support of our sponsors, we would not be able to put on such a fantastic event. Our thanks go to Premium sponsors: BRC

Reinforcement, Hunnebeck, Marney Construction, MPB Structures and PERI; our Standard sponsors:

RMD Kwikform; and our Award sponsors: EasyBuild, Invisible Connections, Ischebeck Titan and Rawlplug.

CONSTRUCT Chairman, Neil Marney said:

“The standard of entries at this year’s CONSTRUCT Awards was extremely high, and to see the hard work and excellence celebrated by the sector at such a joyous event makes me proud to represent  CONSTRUCT as Chairman. CONSTRUCT Day never disappoints and is always a brilliant opportunity for members to come together and network in a relaxed, enjoyable environment. Although it has been a tough year for the construction industry, the high standard of work shown by our members proves that even in difficult circumstances we are able to produce quality construction to the highest standards.”
