Modular Green Nationwide by Benfield ATT

Founded in 1995 to manufacture Swedish homes for Scandia Hus, ATT (Advanced Timber Technology) was bought in 2002 by Prof. Dr. Michael Benfield. Today, Benfield ATT uses DfMA ( Design for Manufacture & Assembly) to blend their extensive and rather unique knowledge of all forms of timber structure, building science and regulations to meet each client’s conceptual and functional requirements.

With decades of experience in all building types, we have delivered hundreds of timber frame houses, offices and ancillary building across the UK. We were instrumental in designing the UK’s the first amphibious house and have manufacturing and construction experience of modular timber frame, SIPS, volumetric and hybrid housing solutions.

Project Diversity

Rather than viewing modern methods of construction (MMC) as a “one size fits all” solution, we see it as a way of using efficient manufacturing solutions to adapt to each individual site needs in much the same way as a car manufacturer will tailor a product for an individual client. This means we can create solutions for large & small developments plus solutions for difficult sites, like soft ground, steep slopes and flood risk areas.

Modular Green

Modular components enable architects, building designers, engineers and quantity surveyors to select and specify those elements and materials most functionally appropriate and cost effective, including volumetric pods. Modular buildings need really effective structural envelopes to deliver highly energy efficient structures with optimum levels of insulation, minimal thermal transmission and appropriate airtightness for floors, walls, roofs, windows and doors along with SMART construction and building operating solutions.

Lean Manufacture facilitates waste reduction and recycling while encouraging the delivery of high-quality Green Homes that save both time and costs on site. This not only enhances clients’ projects; it also helps make Benfield ATT one of the most competitive full-service timber engineering design and build firms in the UK.

We favour professional partnerships that deliver greatest benefit to sector and end user clients. While happy to engage in ‘one off’ projects, Benfield ATT prefers long term collaborative ‘partnering’ with RSL’s, LA’s, construction professionals & residential developers.

Joint Venture

Proposals from landowners and those who wish to fund, say, housing schemes, but lack the technical knowledge and industry experience necessary to make them successful are welcome. In such cases Benfield ATT believes that their comprehensive team approach can be highly valuable and optimise returns.
