Asbestos training being ignored, says UKATA

Following recent stories of asbestos being mishandled across the country, the UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) has issued a warning that adequate training in asbestos safety management is being ignored by many, and the health of many workers may be being compromised.

CISRS Part 1 Course Requirement Active: September 1st 2015

The recent amendment to the CISRS Part 1 course rules on eligibility of delegates – that it is a scheme requirement for anyone wishing to attend a CISRS Part 1 Scaffolding Training course to have held a valid CISRS Trainee Scaffolder or Labourer card for a minimum of six months – is now active, as of today (September 1st).

CISRS and Safety & Access Overseas Training Scheme success

The CISRS Overseas Training Scheme (OSTS) received a further boost in April - as CISRS Scheme Manager, David Mosley granted re-accreditation to the Safety & Access Middle East Centre in Ajman (UAE), opened a brand new purpose-built centre in Qatar, and took part in a high profile scaffolding conference in the region.

UK construction projects 'open doors' to record number of young people

Last weekend saw over 5,500 of the UK’s young people visiting local construction projects as part of the UK Contractors Group’s (UKCG) Open Doors weekend. This is the third annual event to be held, and to date, the most successful with an additional 1,500 young delegates booking their place for this year’s event compared to 2013.
